R&P...Genre This, Genre That...?

People using genres to find bands seems to miss the point. For categorization, and description purposes, they can be helpful, but I rarely find them helpful at all in figuring out what I like. And the fact that genres seem to be having a growing importance is a bit frightening... how closed-minded it can get.
