How long do you have to have a cartilage piercing in for it to leave scarring?

I just got my conch pierced, and I was thinking of changing it to the other ear, so I'd close this hole and get it pierced again. But if I leave my current one in for a few weeks, will it scar? Or months? Because I know that fresh piercings don't usually leave scarring.
